The AU70xx sub-GHz transceivers provide excellent range in ISM bands: (1) 433MHz - up to 2km line-of-sight with +20dBm output

(2) 868/915MHz - up to 1km line-of-sight

(3) Range depends on antenna type, environment, and data rate

(4) Lower data rates provide longer range and better penetration

(5) Use external PA for even longer range if needed. In urban environments with obstacles, expect 200-500m range. The high sensitivity (-120dBm) enables reliable communication at the edge of coverage.

(4) Factors affecting range - antenna type, output power, data rate, and environmental obstacles. Lower data rates provide longer range and better penetration. For extended range, consider using an external power amplifier or high-gain antenna. Always follow regulatory limits for output power in your region.

The AU7040 includes several features to handle interference: (1) Frequency hopping - automatically switches channels to avoid interference

(2) RSSI monitoring - measures channel energy before transmission

(3) Listen-before-talk - checks channel availability before transmitting

(4) Adjustable data rate - lower rates provide better sensitivity and interference rejection

(5) Forward error correction - improves reliability in noisy environments. For 2.4GHz applications, the AU7140 includes adaptive frequency hopping compliant with Bluetooth specifications. Implement proper channel planning based on local spectrum usage.

The AU7040 supports various antenna types: (1) Whip antenna - quarter-wave monopole (17cm at 433MHz, 8.5cm at 915MHz)

(2) Helical antenna - compact form factor with reduced efficiency

(3) PCB antenna - cost-effective, requires careful design

(4) Dipole antenna - balanced design with good performance

(5) External antenna - via U. FL or SMA connector. The integrated balun provides single-ended 50Ω interface. For best performance, match antenna to operating frequency and follow reference designs. Consider antenna diversity for critical applications requiring high reliability.
