The Gain Bandwidth Product (GBW) is a fundamental parameter that determines the maximum bandwidth achievable at a given closed-loop gain. For a given op-amp with GBW of 1MHz, you can achieve 1MHz bandwidth at unity gain (gain = 1), 500kHz at gain of 2, 100kHz at gain of 10, and so on. The relationship is: Bandwidth = GBW / Closed-Loop Gain. When selecting an op-amp, calculate your required GBW by multiplying your desired closed-loop gain by your signal bandwidth, then add margin (typically 20-50%) for variations.
