What is Bluetooth mesh and when should I use it?

Bluetooth mesh is a many-to-many communication protocol enabling thousands of devices to communicate in a network. Messages can relay through intermediate nodes, extending network coverage beyond single-hop Bluetooth range. Ideal applications include commercial lighting (up to 32,000 nodes), building automation, and sensor networks. ESP32-C3 and ESP32-C6 support all Bluetooth mesh node types including relay, proxy, friend, and low-power nodes. The ESP-IDF provides a complete mesh stack with provisioning and security features.
