Wide input modules typically have 2-3% lower efficiency than fixed input modules due to additional circuitry required for wide range operation. For example, a fixed input module might have 86% efficiency while the equivalent wide input version has 84% efficiency. This efficiency difference means slightly higher heat generation in wide input modules. However, the flexibility of wide input often outweighs this small efficiency penalty in battery-powered and voltage-fluctuating applications. For maximum efficiency in stable voltage applications, choose fixed input modules. For flexibility in varying voltage environments, accept the small efficiency trade-off with wide input modules.
