Aipu DC-DC Fixed Input Power Modules

A series DC-DC modules have fixed input voltage (5V, 12V, or 24V) with +/-10% tolerance, suitable for stable power supply systems. B series have wide input range (4:1 ratio such as 9-36V or 18-75V), suitable for battery-powered applications or systems with large voltage fluctuations. A series typically have higher efficiency and lower cost, while B series offer better flexibility and wider application range.

Choose A series for stable input voltage applications, B series for battery power or fluctuating voltage environments.

Select DC-DC module power level based on load requirements: 1) Calculate total load power consumption including all devices powered by the module

2) Add 20-30% margin for reliable operation and future expansion

3) Consider startup current and transient load requirements

4) For continuous operation at high ambient temperatures, further derating may be needed. Aipu offers 0.25W, 0.5W, 1W, 2W, 3W power levels in fixed input series. It's better to select slightly higher power than required for better reliability and longer lifetime.

Calculate load power, add 20-30% margin, select next available power level for reliable operation.

SIP (Single In-line Package) and DIP (Dual In-line Package) are two common package forms for DC-DC modules: SIP has pins on one side only, smaller footprint (typically 11.5-14mm width), suitable for space-constrained applications. DIP has pins on both sides, larger footprint (typically 19-22mm width), but more stable mechanical structure and better heat dissipation. SIP is preferred for compact designs, while DIP is better for harsh environments with vibration or high temperature. Both packages offer the same electrical performance and isolation specifications.

Choose SIP for compact designs, DIP for harsh environments requiring better mechanical stability.

Choose 3000VDC isolation instead of 1500VDC in the following situations: 1) Medical equipment with patient contact requiring higher safety isolation

2) Power system monitoring and protection equipment working in high-voltage environments

3) Industrial equipment in severe electromagnetic interference environments

4) Applications requiring reinforced insulation per safety standards

5) Long-term reliable operation in harsh industrial environments. 3000VDC modules provide higher safety margin and better noise immunity, but at slightly higher cost and slightly lower efficiency compared to 1500VDC versions.

Select 3000VDC for medical, power systems, and harsh EMI environments. 1500VDC is sufficient for general industrial applications.

Aipu DC-DC modules can operate at high altitudes with proper derating. Standard modules are rated for up to 2000m altitude. For applications above 2000m, the following considerations apply: 1) Reduced air density decreases cooling efficiency, requiring output power derating (typically 10-20% derating at 3000m, 20-30% at 4000m)

2) Lower air insulation strength may require higher creepage and clearance distances

3) Temperature range may need adjustment based on actual ambient conditions. For high-altitude applications above 3000m, consult Aipu technical support for specific recommendations and possible custom solutions.

Standard modules work up to 2000m. Above 2000m, apply power derating and consult technical support for specific recommendations.
