The choice between linear and switching LED drivers depends on your application requirements: (1) Efficiency - switching drivers offer 85-95% efficiency vs 60-80% for linear drivers, making them preferred for high-power applications. (2) Cost - linear drivers are simpler and lower cost, suitable for low-power (<100mA) applications. (3) EMI - linear drivers produce no EMI, ideal for noise-sensitive applications. (4) Input voltage range - switching drivers handle wider input voltage ranges and can step up or step down. (5) Size - linear drivers require no inductor, resulting in smaller solution size. For battery-powered applications, switching drivers extend battery life. For simple indicator LEDs, linear drivers are sufficient.

Use switching drivers for high-power (>100mA) or battery applications; linear drivers for simple, low-cost solutions.

Silan LED drivers support multiple dimming methods: (1) Analog dimming - adjust LED current by changing the current sense reference voltage. Simple implementation but may cause color shift in white LEDs. (2) PWM dimming - rapidly switch LED on/off at high frequency (>100Hz to avoid flicker). Maintains color temperature but may cause EMI. (3) Hybrid dimming - combination of analog and PWM for wide dimming range. (4) Digital dimming - I2C or SPI interface for precise digital control. (5) TRIAC dimming - for compatibility with existing wall dimmers (requires special driver design). Most Silan drivers support analog and PWM dimming, with some offering digital interfaces. PWM frequency is typically 200Hz-20kHz, with higher frequencies used to avoid audible noise.

Use PWM dimming for best color consistency; analog dimming for simplest implementation.
