Memsensing Pressure Sensors

Memsensing offers pressure sensors covering a wide range of applications: 1) Low pressure: 0-100kPa for HVAC and airflow measurement

2) Medium pressure: 0-400kPa for TPMS and fuel systems

3) High pressure: 0-1MPa to 0-10MPa for hydraulic and industrial applications. Each range is optimized for specific accuracy and linearity requirements. Custom pressure ranges can be developed for high-volume applications with minimum order quantities.

Identify your application's minimum and maximum operating pressures, then select a sensor with at least 1.5x safety margin above maximum pressure.

Pressure sensor accuracy is typically specified as ±% of Full Scale (FS). For example, a ±1% FS sensor with 1000kPa range has ±10kPa error across the entire range. Memsensing sensors achieve ±0.5% to ±1% FS accuracy depending on the model. Additional error sources include temperature drift (compensated in automotive-grade sensors), non-linearity, and hysteresis. Total error band combines all these factors for worst-case analysis. For critical applications, consider sensors with digital compensation and calibration for best accuracy.

Calculate the maximum allowable error for your application, then select a sensor with accuracy margin considering all error sources including temperature effects.

Absolute pressure sensors measure pressure relative to a perfect vacuum (zero pressure), used for altitude measurement and barometric applications. Gauge pressure sensors measure relative to atmospheric pressure, commonly used for tire pressure and hydraulic systems. Differential pressure sensors measure the difference between two pressure ports, ideal for flow measurement and filter monitoring. Memsensing offers all three types with various pressure ranges and output options to match specific application requirements.

Choose absolute sensors for vacuum or altitude applications, gauge sensors for pressure relative to atmosphere, and differential sensors for flow or filter monitoring.

Temperature affects pressure sensors through several mechanisms: 1) Zero drift - output at zero pressure changes with temperature

2) Span drift - sensitivity changes with temperature

3) Material properties - MEMS membrane stiffness varies with temperature. Memsensing automotive sensors include on-chip temperature compensation achieving <±1% FS accuracy across -40°C to +125°C. Industrial sensors typically offer compensation for -20°C to +85°C. For extreme temperature applications, external compensation algorithms may be required.

Memsensing pressure sensors offer multiple output options: 1) Analog voltage (0.5-4.5V, 0-5V) - simple interface with microcontrollers

2) 4-20mA current loop - noise-immune for industrial applications

3) Digital I2C/SPI - direct interface with processors, includes temperature data

4) PWM output - for simple microcontrollers without ADC. Digital outputs provide best accuracy and include diagnostic features. Analog outputs are simplest for basic applications. Select based on your system's interface capabilities and noise environment.

Choose analog for simple systems, digital I2C/SPI for smart sensors with diagnostics, or 4-20mA for long-distance industrial installations.
