Gejian IGBTs are available in multiple voltage ratings to suit different application requirements. The standard voltage ratings include 600V for low-voltage applications such as consumer appliances and small motor drives, 650V for general-purpose industrial applications, 1200V for standard industrial drives and solar inverters, and 1700V for high-voltage applications such as traction drives and medium-voltage inverters. Each voltage rating is optimized for specific application segments with appropriate trade-offs between conduction losses, switching losses, and short-circuit capability.

Selecting the right current rating for Gejian IGBTs involves calculating your application's maximum RMS current requirements and applying appropriate safety margins. For motor drive applications, consider the motor's rated current, overload requirements (typically 150% for 1 minute), and derating factors for switching frequency and temperature. For inverter applications, calculate based on output power, DC bus voltage, and modulation index. Gejian offers current ratings from 10A to 600A in discrete packages and up to 1200A in module configurations. Always include at least 20-30% current margin for reliable operation and transient conditions.

Gejian offers both discrete IGBTs and IGBT modules to address different application needs. Discrete IGBTs are single devices in standard packages like TO-247 and TO-3P, suitable for lower power applications up to approximately 50A. They offer flexibility in circuit design and are cost-effective for simple applications. IGBT modules integrate multiple IGBT chips, freewheeling diodes, and often include thermal management features in a single package. Modules are designed for higher power applications (50A to 1200A) and offer better thermal performance, reduced parasitic inductance, and simplified assembly. Modules are preferred for industrial drives, renewable energy systems, and EV applications.

Use discrete IGBTs for low-power applications (<50A). Use IGBT modules for high-power applications (>50A) requiring better thermal performance.

Gejian IGBTs are optimized for switching frequencies typically ranging from 1kHz to 50kHz, with specific product families targeting different frequency ranges. Standard IGBTs are designed for frequencies up to 20kHz, suitable for most motor drive applications. High-speed IGBT variants can operate up to 50kHz for applications requiring faster switching such as high-performance servo drives and certain inverter applications. When selecting switching frequency, consider the trade-off between switching losses (which increase with frequency) and passive component size (which decreases with frequency). For applications requiring higher frequencies (>50kHz), consider Gejian SiC MOSFETs which offer superior high-frequency performance.

Proper thermal management is critical for reliable operation of Gejian IGBTs. Key considerations include: Junction temperature must not exceed Tj(max) of 150°C or 175°C depending on the product series. Thermal interface material between the IGBT and heatsink significantly affects thermal resistance. Heatsink design must adequately dissipate both conduction losses and switching losses. Airflow or liquid cooling may be required for high-power applications. Thermal cycling considerations are important for long-term reliability, especially in applications with frequent start-stop cycles.
