What interface types are supported by Funcience PHYs?

Funcience industrial PHYs support standard MII (Media Independent Interface) and RMII (Reduced MII) interfaces. The MII interface provides separate data and control paths with 16 signals, offering maximum performance and flexibility. RMII reduces the pin count to 7 signals, saving GPIO pins on the host controller at the cost of slightly higher latency. Both interfaces are widely supported by microcontrollers and Ethernet controllers. Funcience PHYs are compatible with standard MAC implementations. The interface type is typically configurable through strap options or register settings.

What is Auto-MDIX and why is it important?

Auto-MDIX (Automatic Medium Dependent Interface Crossover) automatically detects and corrects for straight-through or crossover Ethernet cables. Without Auto-MDIX, you need to use the correct cable type depending on device type (DTE or DCE). Auto-MDIX eliminates this concern by automatically configuring the TX and RX pairs. This is especially important in industrial environments where cables may be replaced by maintenance personnel who may not know the correct cable type. Yes, Funcience PHYs are fully compatible with standard IEEE 802.3 MII and RMII interfaces.
