SmartSens automotive image sensors are available in AEC-Q100 Grade 2 (-40°C to +105°C) and Grade 3 (-40°C to +85°C) qualifications. Grade 2 sensors are recommended for engine compartment and exterior applications, while Grade 3 sensors are suitable for interior cabin applications.

Choose Grade 2 for exterior and harsh environment applications. Grade 3 is sufficient for interior cabin monitoring applications.

Do these sensors support HDR for challenging lighting conditions?

Yes, all SmartSens automotive sensors support HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging with up to 120dB dynamic range. This enables clear imaging in high-contrast scenarios such as entering/exiting tunnels, driving toward sunset, and nighttime driving with oncoming headlights.

Enable HDR mode for all automotive applications to ensure reliable imaging across varying lighting conditions.

What is LED flicker mitigation and why is it important?

LED flicker mitigation (LFM) is a technology that prevents image flickering when capturing LED traffic lights, taillights, and signs. Without LFM, LED light sources may appear to flicker or be invisible in camera images due to their pulsing nature.

Ensure LED flicker mitigation is enabled for forward-facing cameras that need to detect traffic lights and vehicle lights.

Are these sensors suitable for surround view camera systems?

Yes, SmartSens automotive sensors are ideal for surround view systems. The 2MP SC200AI provides sufficient resolution for parking assistance, while higher resolution sensors offer enhanced detail for advanced surround view applications.

Use SC200AI for basic surround view systems. Choose higher resolution sensors for premium systems requiring higher detail.

What interface options are available for automotive sensors?

SmartSens automotive sensors support MIPI CSI-2 interface with 1-4 lanes for high-speed data transmission. They also support parallel DVP interface for compatibility with legacy systems. The MIPI interface includes error detection features for reliable data transmission.

Use MIPI CSI-2 for new designs to benefit from higher bandwidth and reliability features. DVP is available for legacy system compatibility.

Do these sensors meet functional safety requirements?
