Samwha offers automotive capacitors with several temperature ratings: 125°C Rated - Standard automotive grade for under-hood and interior applications. Suitable for most ECUs, LED drivers, and power supplies. 150°C Rated - High-temperature grade for extreme under-hood locations near engines or exhaust systems. Required for some powertrain applications. Temperature ranges: Standard: -40°C to +125°C, High-Temp: -55°C to +150°C. The 150°C rating uses enhanced electrolyte formulation and high-temperature materials to withstand extreme conditions. For automotive applications, always select capacitors with temperature rating at least 20°C above the maximum expected ambient temperature. Automotive capacitor lifetime depends on operating temperature and series: Standard Automotive (125°C rated) - 5,000 to 10,000 hours at 125°C. In typical automotive operation at 85-100°C: 40,000 to 80,000 hours (15-30 years). High-Temperature Automotive (150°C rated) - 3,000 to 5,000 hours at 150°C. In typical operation at 110-130°C: 20,000 to 40,000 hours (10-20 years). Long-Life Automotive - 10,000 to 15,000 hours at 125°C. In typical operation: 80,000 to 150,000 hours (30-50 years). The Arrhenius equation applies: lifetime approximately doubles for every 10°C decrease in temperature. For 15-year vehicle life requirement, design for capacitor case temperature below 100°C for 125°C rated parts, or below 120°C for 150°C rated parts.
