"The MSM-P1000-420 fills an important need for high-pressure industrial applications up to 1MPa. I've deployed these transmitters in hydraulic press applications, mobile equipment, and industrial machinery with excellent results. The 1MPa range covers most industrial hydraulic systems (typically 210-350 bar working pressure with 1.5x safety margin). The transmitter's robust construction handles the vibration and shock common in heavy industry. The 4-20mA interface integrates seamlessly with industrial control systems. I particularly appreciate the consistent accuracy across the temperature range - important for outdoor mobile equipment. The G1/4 connection is compatible with standard hydraulic fittings. For installation in high-vibration environments, use appropriate conduit and strain relief. This transmitter offers a cost-effective alternative to traditional strain gauge pressure transmitters while maintaining industrial-grade reliability."

Frequently Asked Questions

What safety considerations apply for high-pressure applications?

High-pressure applications require special safety considerations: 1) Always depressurize system before installation or removal; 2) Use proper thread sealant rated for high pressure; 3) Ensure pressure ratings of all components exceed maximum system pressure; 4) Install pressure relief devices to protect transmitter from overpressure; 5) Use proper torque on connections (typically 30-40 Nm for G1/4 at high pressure); 6) Consider burst protection for personnel safety; 7) Follow lockout/tagout procedures during maintenance. The transmitter has safety margins built-in, but system-level protection is essential. Never exceed the specified pressure ratings.

Follow all safety procedures for high-pressure systems. Use appropriate personal protective equipment and system safeguards.

Can this transmitter be used with hydraulic oil?

Yes, the MSM-P1000-420 is fully compatible with standard hydraulic oils including mineral oil-based, synthetic, and biodegradable hydraulic fluids. The 316L stainless steel wetted parts resist corrosion from hydraulic fluids. The transmitter has been tested with common hydraulic fluids per industry standards. For specialized hydraulic fluids or high-temperature applications, verify compatibility with the specific fluid formulation. The operating temperature range of -20°C to +80°C covers most hydraulic system temperatures. For high-temperature hydraulic applications (up to 120°C), contact our application engineering team.

Standard hydraulic oils are fully compatible. Contact our FAE for specialized fluid compatibility questions.

What is the response time of the transmitter?

The MSM-P1000-420 has a response time of less than 5ms (10-90% step response). This fast response is suitable for most industrial process control applications. For dynamic pressure measurements or rapid control loops, the transmitter's response is typically faster than the mechanical system's response. The 4-20mA output has negligible additional delay. If measuring very fast pressure transients (e.g., water hammer), consider the transmitter's bandwidth limitations. For most hydraulic and pneumatic control applications, the response time is more than adequate.

The <5ms response is suitable for most industrial applications. For extremely fast dynamics, verify requirements against transmitter specifications.

How does the transmitter handle vacuum conditions?

The MSM-P1000-420 is specified for gauge pressure (0 to +1000kPa) and is not designed for vacuum measurement. For applications requiring vacuum measurement, select the MSM-P1000-420A (absolute pressure version) which measures from vacuum (0 kPa absolute) to 1000kPa absolute. The gauge pressure version will read 4mA (zero) at atmospheric pressure and cannot measure below atmospheric. For applications with both pressure and vacuum, the absolute pressure version is required. Contact our sales team for absolute pressure transmitter options.

Use absolute pressure version (MSM-P1000-420A) for vacuum applications. The standard gauge version starts at atmospheric pressure.

What is the warranty period for the transmitter?

The MSM-P1000-420 carries a standard 2-year warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship. The warranty covers repair or replacement of defective units. Extended warranty options are available for large volume contracts. The MEMS sensing element has demonstrated MTTF (Mean Time To Failure) of greater than 1 million hours in accelerated life testing. Actual field reliability has been excellent with very low failure rates. Warranty claims require return of defective units for analysis. Preventable damage (overpressure, physical damage, improper installation) is not covered under warranty.
