Loongson 1 series processors are single-core designs optimized for cost-sensitive and ultra-low-power applications. They feature basic processing capabilities with minimal power consumption, making them ideal for simple control tasks and IoT endpoints. Loongson 2 series processors are dual-core designs offering significantly higher performance for more demanding embedded applications. The 2K series includes integrated peripherals such as GMAC, SATA, USB, and PCIe, reducing system complexity and BOM cost. For applications requiring networking capabilities, industrial interfaces, or moderate computing power, the 2 series is recommended. The 1 series is suitable for basic control applications where cost and power are primary constraints.

Select 1 series for basic control and cost-sensitive applications. Choose 2 series for networking, industrial control, and performance-critical embedded systems.

Loongson 2K processors integrate comprehensive peripherals reducing the need for external components. The 2K1000 includes dual Gigabit Ethernet MACs, SATA 2.0 controller, USB 2.0 host and OTG, multiple UARTs, SPI, I2C, and GPIO. The 2K2000 adds PCIe 2.0 support, enhanced graphics capabilities, and additional USB ports. Both processors include memory controllers supporting DDR3 memory. The integrated GMAC supports network boot and industrial Ethernet protocols. SATA support enables direct storage connectivity without bridge chips. The rich peripheral set makes 2K processors suitable for network appliances, industrial controllers, and storage systems without requiring extensive external logic.

The 1C101 single-core processor consumes less than 0.5W typical, making it suitable for battery-powered and energy-harvesting applications. The 2K1000 dual-core processor typically consumes 1-3W depending on workload and frequency. The 2K2000 with enhanced graphics and I/O consumes 3-5W typical. All processors support dynamic frequency scaling and power gating to reduce consumption during idle periods. Sleep modes enable sub-100mW operation for always-on applications. The low power consumption reduces thermal management requirements and enables fanless operation in most applications. Power consumption scales approximately linearly with CPU utilization.

For applications requiring guaranteed response times, consider using the processors with real-time operating systems such as RT-Thread or SylixOS that have Loongson ports.
