Frequently Asked Questions

What applications benefit most from HAIS 400-P's 0.3% accuracy?

The 0.3% accuracy of HAIS 400-P provides significant benefits in: 1) Active harmonic filters - Accurate current measurement enables precise harmonic compensation, improving filter effectiveness; 2) High-performance motor drives - Better current feedback improves torque control and efficiency, especially at light loads; 3) Power analyzers and meters - Meets accuracy requirements for billing-grade and compliance monitoring; 4) Test and measurement - Provides reliable data for product development and quality assurance; 5) Precision power supplies - Enables tight output regulation and load sharing; 6) Energy management - Accurate data for optimization and reporting. The accuracy improvement over standard 0.5-1% sensors (30-70% better) justifies the higher cost in applications where measurement quality impacts system performance, efficiency, or compliance.

Choose HAIS 400-P when accuracy better than 0.5% is required, such as in active harmonic filters, precision motor drives, or power analyzers. For applications where 0.5-1% accuracy is sufficient, consider HTFS series for cost savings.

How does the DIN rail mounting of HAIS 400-P work?

The HAIS 400-P features a DIN rail mounting clip compatible with standard 35mm top-hat DIN rails (EN 60715). Installation procedure: 1) Tilt the sensor and hook the upper clip over the top edge of the DIN rail; 2) Push the bottom of the sensor toward the rail until the lower clip snaps into place; 3) Verify secure mounting by gently pulling on the sensor. Removal: 1) Pull down on the release tab at the bottom of the mounting clip; 2) While holding the tab, tilt the bottom of the sensor away from the rail; 3) Lift the sensor off the top of the rail. The DIN rail mounting allows quick installation and removal without tools, facilitating maintenance and panel modifications. The sensor can be mounted in any orientation. Ensure adequate clearance for conductor routing through the aperture.

Use standard 35mm DIN rail (top-hat profile) for mounting. Ensure the rail is securely mounted to the panel. Leave adequate space above and below the sensor for conductor routing. The sensor can be mounted in any orientation.

What is the significance of 100kHz bandwidth in HAIS 400-P?

The 100kHz bandwidth of HAIS 400-P enables accurate measurement of high-frequency current components important in modern power electronics: 1) PWM switching frequencies - Modern IGBT inverters switch at 2-20kHz; the sensor accurately captures the resulting current ripple; 2) Harmonic content - Up to 50th harmonic of 60Hz (3kHz) or higher can be measured for power quality analysis; 3) Transient response - Fast load changes and fault currents are captured accurately; 4) Active filter applications - High bandwidth enables compensation of high-order harmonics up to 2-5kHz effectively. The bandwidth is defined as the frequency where output is -3dB (70.7%) of the DC value. For accurate amplitude measurement, practical operating frequency should be limited to 1/5 to 1/10 of the bandwidth (10-20kHz for this sensor).

The 100kHz bandwidth is sufficient for most industrial applications including PWM motor drives (typically 2-16kHz switching). For very high frequency applications (>20kHz), consider sensors with higher bandwidth specifications.
