Frequently Asked Questions

What FPGA families does Lattice offer?

Lattice offers several FPGA families: Nexus platform (28nm FD-SOI), CertusPro-NX (general purpose), Certus-NX (security-focused), MachXO3/MachXO5-NX (control FPGAs), and CrossLink-NX (MIPI connectivity).

Choose based on application: Nexus/CertusPro for general purpose, MachXO for control, CrossLink for MIPI connectivity.

What is the power consumption of Lattice FPGAs?

Lattice FPGAs consume up to 75% less power than competing solutions, making them the industry's lowest power programmable logic devices. Typical static power consumption ranges from microwatts to a few milliwatts depending on the device and configuration. This ultra-low power consumption makes Lattice FPGAs ideal for battery-powered applications, IoT edge devices, portable electronics, and thermally constrained systems where heat dissipation is limited. The power advantage comes from advanced process technologies like 28nm FD-SOI and optimized architecture design.

Choose Lattice for the lowest power consumption in battery-powered and thermally constrained applications.

What software is used to develop for Lattice FPGAs?

Lattice Radiant is the primary design software for Nexus-based FPGAs including CertusPro-NX, Certus-NX, and CrossLink-NX families. Lattice Diamond is used for MachXO3 and MachXO5-NX devices. Both software packages are available as free downloads from the Lattice website and include synthesis, place and route, timing analysis, power analysis, and programming capabilities. For AI/ML applications, Lattice sensAI provides additional tools for neural network deployment. All software includes extensive IP libraries and reference designs to accelerate development.
