The TO-247AD package provides excellent thermal performance with 0.9°C/W junction-to-case thermal resistance. High surge current capability (600A) ensures reliable operation under overload conditions.

"The CS45-16IO1 is a versatile high-voltage SCR for phase control applications. The 1600V rating handles 480V AC systems with plenty of margin. The 45A rating is good for up to 15-20kW single-phase control. I use these in heater controllers, battery chargers, and DC motor drives. The sensitive gate (30mA) works well with optocoupler drives. Surge capability is excellent - I've seen these survive repeated inrush currents in heater applications. For thermal design, at 30A with conduction angle 90°, dissipation is about 40W - manageable with moderate heatsinking. A reliable workhorse SCR for industrial phase control."
