FAE Expert Insights
"The MIXA100PD1200TS is my go-to module for high-power industrial applications. The 100A rating with excellent thermal performance makes it ideal for 20-30kW drives. I've successfully used these in crane drives, extruders, and large pump applications. The 1.85V Vce(sat) is very reasonable for this current level. Switching losses are manageable at 4-6kHz. The 62mm package provides good mounting stability and heat spreading. For thermal design, I recommend heatsinks with 0.15°C/W or better with forced air cooling. The module has proven very reliable - zero field failures in over 3 years of deployment."

Frequently Asked Questions
What heatsink is required for 80A continuous operation?
For 80A continuous operation: Conduction loss = 80A × 1.85V × 0.5 (duty) = 74W per IGBT. Switching loss at 6kHz ≈ 15W. Total ≈ 90W per IGBT. With Rth(j-c) = 0.28°C/W, Tj = Tc + 25°C. For Tj(max) = 150°C and Ta = 40°C, required Rth(h-a) = (150-40)/90 - 0.28 - 0.1 = 0.84°C/W. Recommend heatsink with 0.6-0.8°C/W with forced air (3-5 m/s). Use thermal interface material with <0.5°C·cm²/W thermal resistance.
Use heatsink with Rth < 0.8°C/W with forced air for 80A operation.
