What is the difference between DCM and CCM flyback converters?

DCM (Discontinuous Conduction Mode) operates with the inductor current falling to zero each cycle, suitable for lower power applications. CCM (Continuous Conduction Mode) maintains continuous inductor current, better for higher power with lower ripple but more complex control.

Choose DCM for power <30W, CCM for higher power or lower ripple requirements.
