Frequently Asked Questions
What size motor can be protected with 100A fuse?
Motor sizing for gG fuses: 1) Calculate motor full load current (FLC) from kW rating and voltage; 2) Apply 1.6-2.0x multiplier for starting current; 3) Select fuse rating above this value. Example: 37kW motor at 400V has ~70A FLC. Starting current 5-7x = 350-490A. gG fuse operates at 1.6x in 1 hour, so 100A fuse allows 160A continuously - may nuisance blow. Better to use 125A or aM fuse for motor protection. For general distribution, 100A protects circuits up to 100A continuous load.
Use aM fuses for motor protection. Use gG for distribution and general circuits.
