SM1005N
High-voltage N-channel MOSFET with 100V VDS, 5A ID for load dump protection and high-voltage switching.
Product Overview
Description
The SM1005N is a high-voltage N-channel MOSFET designed for applications requiring voltage margin above standard 40V devices. The 100V rating handles severe load dump conditions and 48V mild-hybrid systems.
With 5A current capability and 45mΩ RDS(on), it provides reliable switching for protection circuits and power control. The logic-level gate drive works with standard MCU outputs.
AEC-Q101 qualified for automotive use. Available in SOP-8 and DPAK packages.

FAE Expert Insights
"The SM1005N provides extra voltage margin for demanding automotive conditions. The 100V rating handles load dumps that can exceed 60V in some systems. I use it in protection circuits and for 48V mild-hybrid applications. The 5A current is adequate for many control circuits. The higher RDS(on) compared to 40V parts is the trade-off for voltage margin, but for lower current applications this is acceptable."

Frequently Asked Questions
When do I need 100V MOSFET in automotive?
100V MOSFETs are needed for: 1) Load dump protection circuits - load dumps can exceed 60V, 2) 48V mild-hybrid systems - need margin above 48V, 3) Severe electrical environment - provides extra safety margin, 4) Protection circuits - where device must survive worst-case transients. Standard 12V body electronics typically use 40V MOSFETs.
Use 100V for protection circuits, 48V systems, or severe environments. Use 40V for standard 12V body electronics.
