MPM3695-10
High-density 10A power module with integrated inductor, delivering up to 10A continuous output with 96% peak efficiency.
Product Overview
Description
The MPM3695-10 integrates a high-efficiency 10A synchronous buck converter with a shielded inductor in a compact 15x15x5mm package. This high-density power module simplifies power supply design by eliminating inductor selection and reducing external component count to just input/output capacitors and a few resistors.
Operating from a wide 3V to 16V input range, the module supports 3.3V, 5V, and 12V bus applications. The output voltage is programmable from 0.6V to 5.5V via external resistor divider, supporting various load requirements in FPGA, ASIC, and processor applications.
Advanced features include selectable switching frequency (600kHz to 1MHz), power good indicator, programmable soft-start, and comprehensive protection functions. Peak efficiency reaches 96% at 12V input and 5V output, making it one of the most efficient modules in its class.

FAE Expert Insights
"The MPM3695-10 is my top recommendation for high-current single-rail applications. The 96% efficiency is exceptional for a power module - I've measured 95%+ in real designs at 12V to 5V conversion. The integrated shielded inductor provides excellent EMI performance, often passing CISPR 22 Class B with minimal external filtering. The thermal performance is impressive - with proper PCB layout (4-layer, 2oz copper), it can deliver full 10A at 85°C ambient. The LGA package is easy to assemble and inspect. I particularly like the frequency selectability - 600kHz for efficiency or 1MHz for smaller components. For telecom and networking equipment, this module is hard to beat."

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the recommended PCB layout for the MPM3695-10?
For optimal performance: 1) Use a 4-layer board with solid ground and power planes. 2) Place input capacitors (minimum 22µF ceramic) close to VIN pins. 3) Place output capacitors close to VOUT pins. 4) Provide adequate copper area (minimum 3 sq inches) for thermal dissipation. 5) Use multiple thermal vias under the package. 6) Follow the layout guidelines in the datasheet for best EMI performance.

How do I set the output voltage?
The MPM3695-10 uses external resistor divider to set output voltage. Connect FB pin to center tap of divider between VOUT and AGND. Use Rbottom = 10kΩ and calculate Rtop = Rbottom x (Vout/0.6V - 1). For 3.3V output: Rtop = 10k x (3.3/0.6 - 1) = 45kΩ. Use 1% tolerance resistors for accuracy. Place divider close to FB pin with short traces.

What is the thermal performance at full load?
At full load (10A), with 12V input and 5V output, the MPM3695-10 dissipates approximately 2-2.5W. Junction temperature rise is about 30-35°C above ambient with standard PCB layout (2 oz copper, 4 layers, 3 sq in copper area). For reliable operation below 125°C junction, keep ambient below 90°C or provide airflow. The module includes over-temperature protection at 150°C.

Can multiple modules be paralleled for higher current?
Yes, the MPM3695-10 supports parallel operation for higher current applications. Up to 4 modules can be paralleled to deliver 40A total. For parallel operation: 1) Connect COMP pins together for current sharing. 2) Use identical output inductors if external. 3) Ensure symmetrical layout for equal current distribution. 4) Add small ballast resistors (5-10mΩ) if needed for current balancing. The MPM3695-25 (25A) is also available for higher current single-module solutions.

What protection features are integrated?
The MPM3695-10 includes comprehensive protection: 1) Over-current protection (OCP) - cycle-by-cycle current limiting with hiccup mode. 2) Over-voltage protection (OVP) - latches off if output exceeds 120% of set point. 3) Under-voltage lockout (UVLO) - disables operation below 2.7V input. 4) Over-temperature protection (OTP) - shuts down at 150°C junction. 5) Short-circuit protection - hiccup mode for sustained shorts.
Review the protection specifications in the datasheet for your application's safety requirements.
