AP880X
Buck LED driver with high efficiency up to 95% for lighting applications up to 1A
Product Overview
Description
The AP880X series are buck LED drivers that provide high-efficiency constant current regulation for LED lighting applications. They can drive single or multiple LEDs with currents up to 1A.
The devices operate at high switching frequency (1MHz) for compact designs and include PWM dimming capability. Integrated power MOSFETs minimize external component count.
With efficiencies up to 95%, the AP880X series minimizes power loss and heat generation compared to linear LED drivers.

FAE Expert Insights
"The AP880X series offers an excellent balance of efficiency and simplicity for LED lighting. The buck topology is efficient when input voltage is higher than LED voltage. I've used these in various lighting applications with great results. The 1MHz switching allows compact inductors. For best EMI performance, follow the recommended PCB layout and use proper input filtering."
I highly recommend the AP880X for its proven reliability and excellent performance in real-world applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the maximum LED current?
The AP880X can deliver up to 1A constant current to the LED string. Current is set by an external sense resistor. For detailed specifications and application support on chipown AP880X, refer to the datasheet or contact our team.
Set current with sense resistor based on LED requirements.
What input voltage range is supported?
The AP880X supports input voltages from 6V to 40V, suitable for 12V, 24V, and industrial lighting applications. For detailed specifications and application support on chipown AP880X, refer to the datasheet or contact our team.
Verify input > LED voltage + headroom.
How many LEDs can be driven?
The number of LEDs depends on their forward voltage and input voltage. Total LED Vf must be less than input voltage minus headroom (typically 2-3V). For detailed specifications and application support on chipown AP880X, refer to the datasheet or contact our team.
Calculate: Total Vf < Vin - 3V.
What inductor value is recommended?
Typical inductor values are 10μH to 22μH at 1MHz switching frequency. Choose inductor with saturation current >1.5x LED current. For detailed specifications and application support on chipown AP880X, refer to the datasheet or contact our team.
Contact FAE for inductor selection.
How is dimming achieved?
Dimming is achieved via PWM control. Apply PWM signal to the dimming pin to adjust LED brightness from 0% to 100%. PWM frequency should be >100Hz to avoid visible flicker. For detailed specifications and application support on chipown AP880X, refer to the datasheet or contact our team.
Use >100Hz PWM for flicker-free dimming.
