AP2953
3A synchronous buck converter with wide input range (4.5V-18V) for high-current applications
Product Overview
Description
The AP2953 is a 3A synchronous buck converter, the higher-current version of the AP2952. It maintains the same wide input voltage range (4.5V-18V) and high efficiency while delivering more output current.
With integrated high-side and low-side MOSFETs, the AP2953 achieves excellent efficiency up to 95%. The fixed 500kHz switching frequency enables compact designs with small external components.
Current-mode control provides fast transient response, making it suitable for applications with dynamic load conditions. Comprehensive protection features ensure reliable operation.

FAE Expert Insights
"The AP2953 is my go-to solution for 3A buck conversion requirements. It maintains the same ease of use as the AP2952 while delivering higher current. The efficiency remains excellent even at high load. For thermal management, ensure adequate copper area on the PCB, especially for the switching node. The current-mode control handles load transients well, making it suitable for processor power applications."
I highly recommend the AP2953 for its proven reliability and excellent performance in real-world applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the maximum output current?
The AP2953 can deliver up to 3A continuous output current with proper thermal design. This is 50% more than the AP2952. For detailed specifications and application support on chipown AP2953, refer to the datasheet or contact our team.
Choose AP2953 for 2A-3A applications.
What is the difference between AP2952 and AP2953?
The main difference is current capability - AP2953 supports 3A vs 2A for AP2952. Both share the same pinout, input range, and control features. For detailed specifications and application support on chipown AP2953, refer to the datasheet or contact our team.
Use AP2952 for <2A, AP2953 for 2A-3A.
What thermal management is required?
At 3A output, thermal management is important. Use adequate PCB copper area (especially for switching node), consider thermal vias, and ensure good airflow if possible. For detailed specifications and application support on chipown AP2953, refer to the datasheet or contact our team.
Contact FAE for thermal design recommendations.
What inductor is recommended for 3A?
For 3A output, use inductors with saturation current >4A. Typical values are 3.3μH to 6.8μH depending on output voltage. For detailed specifications and application support on chipown AP2953, refer to the datasheet or contact our team.
Ensure inductor saturation current >4A.
Can it handle load transients?
Yes, the current-mode control provides fast transient response. The output voltage typically recovers within a few switching cycles after a load step. For detailed specifications and application support on chipown AP2953, refer to the datasheet or contact our team.
